WATERMELON TOURMALINE CLUSTER

A rare and stunning example of this naturally formed gemstone. It was George Kunz that first bought this beauty to the attention of the commercial world in 1876 when he sold one to Tiffany & co. But was much prized before then in ancient cultures dating back to the second or third century bc.

In nature it is a complex aluminium borosilicate with a hardness of 7.

No other gemstone grows in such an array of colours and the watermelon variety with it's pink heart and green rind is the most admired and desired of all by collectors and healers.

Believed to ease the emotional and physical problems of the heart and brings feelings of joy and peace particularly when times are troubled and happiness seems so distant.

Often this lovely crystal cannot be purchased in it's natural state, having been stripped from it's growth medium but this amazing example is still attached to it's lovely snowy white matrix. It is a mass of granulated and prismatic growths and has a wonderful warmth and gentleness to it.
